Guided Meditation Moving On Blog - Meditation with Intention

Guided meditation Moving On

In our last blog, we took a look at how meditation can help you to let go and release unwanted thoughts, feelings and behaviours from your life, as well as lots of other things to let go of.

This time, we’re moving forward and taking a look at meditation with intention, the intention of moving forward.

Once we have worked towards letting go of that which no longer serves us, it is important to take our focus to that which we do want, to take our attention to meditation for moving forward.

In this blog you will find some helpful discussion and the free guided meditation Moving On. We hope you enjoy this resource and look forward to your questions and comments about meditation on moving forward.

Meditation for moving forward

Meditation for Moving Forward

When we dedicate ourselves to a consistent meditation practice, we begin to develop the ability to separate from our thoughts and our situations. This practice gives clarity and peace. One benefit of meditation can be that we begin to see clearly how we can and want to move forward with purpose in our lives; whilst also developing our love of self. When we truly love, respect and value ourselves, it is easier to make kinder choices and to act lovingly towards ourselves during our active lives. This can be one of the most profound ways in which meditation for moving on can help us. Those things that we needed so much willpower for, suddenly become much easier to stick to. It’s not so much that meditation develops our discipline, though it certainly can, it is that we no longer need discipline to choose positive choices for ourselves, it’s what we truly want.

By making the first step of dedicating to a regular meditation practice, we tell ourselves that we care, that we are willing to do something to help our situation. In the stillness, the nervous system begins to relax, thoughts are not attached to and made into anxiety, but are just allowed to exist as passing thought, and we begin to return to a feeling of safety and security. When we come out of our stress response and into safety we have more clarity and energy to the brain to make good decisions. We stop reacting and begin to live consciously.

This may sound like a lot of benefit just from sitting still, but the science backs up the experiential evidence. Meditation has been consistently proven to have benefits which include reduced levels of stress hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline, and increased levels of chemicals which help us feel calm and relaxed, like serotonin, melatonin, oxytocin, dopamine and endorphins.

Meditation with Intention

A meditation practice can be as simple as sitting in stillness and quietness for a period of time. A common way to meditate is to focus on the breath, utilising the breath as an anchor to draw the mind away from attaching to thought. At Mettitation, we teach a number of different meditation techniques, and we believe that the most important thing is to find a practice that works for you.

A great way to bring another layer of benefit into a meditation practice is to create a meditation with intention. By beginning the practice with a purpose or intention in mind or held in the heart, we can send energy to that intention and help to focus our will towards our desired outcome. Repetition of a meditation with intention over a period of time will work in the same way as a repeated affirmation, by anchoring the intention into the subconscious mind.

Another effective way to create a meditation with intention is during a visualisation meditation. For example, journeying to a private garden and once there, setting the intention for moving forward.

We love creating visualisation meditations for clients - ask us for more details.
