Reiki healing for animals

What is reiki for animals?

Reiki is a Japanese energy treatment, which aids in relaxation, stress reduction and healing and the same is true for reiki for animals. Any reiki practitioner can work with animals, though some specialise in this area of work or work solely with animals. The gentle energy treatment can be performed with hands on the animal or from a distance, making it a great choice to help many animals whether they are comfortable with human contact or not.

Any animal can enjoy a reiki treatment and many owners seek reiki for animals when their pet is suffering from emotional discomfort, such as grief or fear, as well as when a vet hasn’t been able to provide a course of treatment or a satisfactory course of treatment for a physical ailment. Reiki for animals is also a helpful tool when an animal is nearing the end of their life and their owners wish them to pass over in peace.

Did you know that reiki healing for animals is often performed by reiki practitioners as they go about their lives? For instance when passing a livestock truck or when an animal has been struck by a vehicle. Reiki healing for animals can also be used to help guide lost pets home!

When a practitioner is working hands on with a pet or other animal, they will gently place their hands on the area of the body that they feel guided to do so. A pet owner may tell the practitioner what they believe to be the issue but practitioners trained or experienced in reiki for animals tend to follow their intuition or direct communication from the animal. The practitioner may also allow the animal to guide the treatment, placing their hands where the animal moves towards them, for example a side of their body, their neck or paw/hoof.

From a distance, practitioners can also intend healing energy to the animal. This can be over any distance, even thousands of miles! In this case, the practitioner will likely ask for a photograph of the animal and their name to work with. The distance could also just be a few feet away, if the animal doesn’t appear to be comfortable with being touched.

Reiki healing for animals is a great option for rescue animals and many practitioners work in animal sanctuaries to assist the animals in overcoming their trauma.
